Roger Federer recently announced his retirement from tennis which will most likely happen after the conclusion of the 2022 Laver Cup. As the good wishes are pouring in from legends like Andy Roddick, Rod Laver, Martina Navratilova and Billie Jean King, American star Tennys Sandgren didn’t shy away from making a hilarious remark about the Swiss Maestro.
Roger Federer wrote in his announcement, “As many of you know, the past three years have presented me with challenges in the form of injuries and surgeries. I’ve worked hard to return to full competitive form. But I also know my body’s capacities and limits, and its message to me lately has been clear.”

Roger Federer has 20 grand slams to his name and he has dominated tennis for over two decades now. American, Tennys Sandgren did not hesitate to pay a comedic tribute to Federer after his sad announcement. Sandgren wrote, “Roger is one of the greatest champions ever. What an absolute legend. Just an incredible sportsman and ambassador for the game. I’m privileged to have done battle with him.” Sandgren also added, “f**k him tho” to hilariously express his admiration for the tennis legend.
Roger Federer has further claimed in his announcement, “I am 41 years old, I’ve played more than 1500 matches over 24 years, tennis has treated me more generously than I ever would have dreamt, and now must recognise when it is time to end my competitive career. The Laver Cup next week in London will be my final ATP event. I will play more tennis in the future, of course, but just not in Grand Slams or on the tour.”
Roger Federer’s retirement news has certainly shook the tennis world after all people have stuck around to watch his riveting career. Federer has also said, “This is a bittersweet decision because I will miss everything the tour has given me, but at the same time, there is so much to celebrate.”
