Roger Federer shook the tennis world when he announced his retirement from the competitive world on 15th September. The former world number one will end his long and glorious career after the Laver Cup in London which starts on 23rd September. He was hoping for a comeback this year but had been pushing it due to his injuries and not being at his absolute fittest.

He played his last match in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon in 2021 but lost to Hurbert Hurkacz followed by his third knee surgery and rehabilitation that kept him out for quite a long time. He had desired to come back one more time at Wimbledon to play only if his body allows it during the 100th-anniversary celebration event of the Centre Court but looks like this will remain an unfulfilled dream.
