Italian Flavio Cobolli pulled off a sensational win against 18th seed Nicolas Jarry as the 21-year-old won the match in five sets. Cobolli did not stutter after claiming the first set 6-4 and kept on landing winners to take the match in 4 hours. And, quite obviously, it was all celebrations after the win. Cobolli joined the Italian fans in the stands to celebrate his victory.
After sealing the match following a grueling battle on Court 13, Cobolli was flying over the moon and it showed in his celebrations. The Italian quickly ran towards his supporters with his arms aloft. He then formed a huddle with a few of them and started jumping in the air in delight.

Flavio Cobolli shows mental toughness to take down Nicolas Jarry
Coming to the match, it was a great display of physical and mental toughness from the Italian No. 100 as Flavio Cobolli pulled off a terrific win against a tough opponent in Nicolas Jarry. The Italian youngster started the match on a high, taking the first set 6-4.

Although Jarry made a comeback in the second set, claiming it 6-3, Cobolli was unmoved. The 21-year-old came back storming in the next set and took 6-3. However, Cobolli’s intensity seemed to take a hit in the fourth set as he could secure only two games against Jarry’s six. This meant that the score was tied with both players having won two sets each.
It all boiled down to the fifth and decider set and Cobolli ensured it goes his way. Although Jarry suffered due to a rookie mistake when he could have taken the lead, Cobolli made sure that he did not let the opportunity slip. The youngster capitalized on the errors made by his opponent and eventually claimed the deciding set 7-5.
With this win, Flavio Cobolli advanced to the second round at the 2024 Australian Open. He will next face Pavel Kotov. The Italian is expected to ease past his second-round opponent.
