Emma Raducanu
Emma Raducanu failed to defend her title at the 2022 US Open following a first-round elimination. She has been on a losing spree since her maiden major title win at the US Open in 2021. She is yet to win a single title either on the WTA Tour or at the Grand Slam tournaments and holds the Open Era record for the fewest majors played before winning a title.
Raducanu has yet again faced another shocking first round elimination at the Ostrava Open losing to the Ukrainian Daria Kasatkina in straight sets 7-5,6-4. This will be her third loss after the US Open where she failed to make her mark despite looking for points to better her rankings before the end of the year.
Her best performance of the season was at the Korea Open where she did manage to the semi-finals for the first time in a WTA tournament but made a shocking decision when she decided to walk out in the middle of the match citing a left glute injury which also marks her fourth mid-match retirement of the season. With such inconsistencies in her performances along with her frequent injury concern, she found a substantial drop and fell out of the Top 50 of the rankings.

Emma Raducanu has failed to keep up with the expectations of her fans and has failed miserably succumbing under pressure at the tournaments bowing out early of every possible tournament even after playing at quite a number of matches throughout the year.
