Emma Raducanu, the teen sensation from Britain shot to fame as she clinched the US Open singles title in 2021. But since then, she has failed to perform consistently on the Tour and couldn’t even defend her title at the 2022 US Open. But she hit another low point after she failed to form a long association with her ex-coach.

She is still on the run for finding a new coach as she has changed as many as four coaches in the past few months. Dmitry Tursunov had joined as the new coach for the young Brit prior to the start of the North American swing. She had managed to reach the quarter-finals once and even once at the semi-finals under Tursunov.

Andrei Chesnokov, a former player from Russia, in an interview took a sly dig at Raducanu for being unable to build good and strong relationships. He faulted her behavioral change as the reason behind her frequent splits with her coaches. He said “It was clear that there could be no long-term cooperation with Raducanu. Winning the US Open turned her head. She changed a bunch of trainers after.

Cheskonov further appreciated his compatriot Tursonov and hoped for him to share a great bond with Belinda Bencic. He said “And Tursunov has been an ATP player for more than ten years, he has a huge store of knowledge, and he works well with girls, so he is chosen. He has made a name for himself as a coach. Let’s see what will come of it.

Emma Raducanu split with her ex-coach Dmitry Tursunova within a record four months

The 19-year-old Brit had first split with Andrew Richardson just two weeks after her maiden US Open title win in 2021. She then appointed Torben Beltz as her new coach back in April but failed to develop a bond with another coach within half a year of being together.

Dmitry Tursunov was appointed as the coach just before the Citi Open began and led Raducanu to quite a bit of success but the Brit’s consistent injuries and walkovers from matches put her on the back seat. She reached the semi-finals of the Ostrava Open under the leadership of the Russian coach but walked out in the middle of the match due to an injury.
