American tennis star Frances Tiafoe‘s girlfriend Ayan Broomfield might not have played tennis at the highest level but she did play university tennis. She also watches elite tennis from close quarters while traveling with Tiafoe on the tour. After gaining all that experience, Broomfield has a few tips to share with the amateurs.
When asked about a piece of advice she would like to share with the younger tennis players, Broomfield drew a parallel between playing tennis and riding a bike. The 26-year-old says that no one loses 100 percent in tennis and thus the players must carry that confidence.

Broomfield also talked about the importance of focused training. She claims that hitting aimlessly yields nothing and hence the amateurs should focus on following a pattern during practice sessions.
Tennis is like riding a bike. You never 100 percent lose it, if you know it. So, have confidence in that! I also think when you’re out hitting, don’t just hit aimlessly. Take 20 or 30 minutes to focus and work on something specific. Two cross-courts, one down the line–that’s one of my favorite repetitions.Ayan Broomfield said to Vogue.
Ayan Broomfield talks about the need for discipline among amateurs
The tennis WAG also talked about the need for discipline among aspiring tennis professionals. Ayan Broomfield said that it is necessary to commit to the game rather than casually hitting the ball around. The 26-year-old said that players can invest in ball machine.

Yeah. And don’t forget to do the same at the net...Set up structures for net practice, emphasizing reaction time. If you’re playing with someone strong, encourage them to hit it harder, forcing you to react quicker. Oh, one more thing: A while ago, I invested in a ball machine. Sometimes when you’re stressed, it’s good to just let it out on the court.Ayan Broomfield said.
Notably, Broomfield played tennis at Clemson University for two years. During that time, she was named ACC Freshman of the Year and honored as ITA Carolina Region Rookie of the Year. After that, while a senior at UCLA, Broomfield and her doubles partner Gabby Andrews were crowned NCAA doubles champions in 2019.
She also played doubles at the highest level. Broomfield made her WTA debut at the Coupe Banque Nationale in 2014 where she competed in the doubles division alongside her partner, Maria Patrascu. The 26-year-old was ranked 467th in the world.
