There have been a lot of opinions regarding the attitude of Novak Djokovic all throughout his career. While some have called him a person full of attitude, others have called him a fun-loving person.
The Argentine tennis player Francisco Cerundolo has reacted to this by saying that the Serb is a very respectful person. In an interview with Victoria Grigera Cerundolo said,
He is not arrogant at all. Whenever I see him, he greets me. I've never sat down to talk to him, but I'd love to. He's not arrogant or denigrates you, none of that. He knows how you're doing and what everyone's results are.Cerundolo via Victorio Grigera
The Argentine had spoken about the time when he first met Novak Djokovic in the past. The generosity and simplicity of Nole is what impressed Cerundolo.
It was during the Serbia Open when Djokovic first met the Argentine and congratulated him for his run in the Argentine Open and also spoke with his brother. Nole was the World No.1 at that point in time and Cerundolo was 120 or 130, but there were no such differences on the side of Nole.
Is it ‘Arrogance’ or ‘Competitiveness’ for Novak Djokovic?
Critics have always pointed out some of the events, such as the one in which he was orchestrating the boos of the fans, and labeled him as arrogant. Those things happen during sports, and it happens in the heat of the moment. This is a sheer symbol of mental strength and not arrogance.
Nole is not seen indulging in any ill behaviors with the players or officials. Moreover, after defeats, the Serb is seen praising the opponents like he did after defeat against Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz. Cerundolo is one of the players who has openly praised the generous behavior of Nole.
The Argentine himself had a good 2023 season in which he attained his career-high singles ranking of 19. Cerundolo reached the fourth round of the French Open and the third round of the Australian Open. He was eliminated in the second round of both the US Open and the Wimbledon.
