Carlos Alcaraz has been the story of the season so far. The Spaniard won her first ATP 500 title in Rio and then had a dream Golden Swing. He reached the semifinal of the Indian Wells Masters and then won his maiden Masters title in Miami. Despite an opening-round loss at Monte Carlo, Alcaraz won his third title of the year on home soil- the Barcelona Open. He then backed it up with another title triumph at Madrid where he defeated both Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic consecutively.
He started his French Open campaign by beating Juan Ignacio Londero in the first round and then survived a huge upset in the second round by getting the better of Albert Ramos-Vinolas in five sets 6-1,6-7(7),5-7,7-6(2),6-4.
Sebastian Korda started the season with a third-round outing at the Australian Open and backed it up with a quarterfinal finish at the Delray Beach Open. He also made it to the third round of the Miami Open and the Monte Carlo Masters before a semifinal finish at the Estoril Open. Coming into the French Open, he managed to win just one match at Madrid and Rome combined. This week in Paris, he defeated John Millman in the opening round and then followed it up with a second-round victory over Richard Gasquet in straight sets 7-6(5),6-3,6-3.
