2021 US Open champ Emma Raducanu is currently on the verge of exiting the Top-300. She is currently ranked 296th in the world. Only 1 point separates the 21-year-old and current World No. 300, Hanne Vandewinkel. The British youngster shot to fame after her fairytale run in New York.

But she has since failed to win another title. Her drop has been quite surprising, having ranked as high as World No. 10 at one point. To her credit, more than her performances, it has been due to her injuries. She has been massively troubled by her fitness issues, which have also impacted her performance.

Her constantly changing coaches have also been a big issue for her. With reports suggesting Raducanu’s father plays a crucial role in her coaching situation, critics have often advised her to figure these things out.

With a single semi-final appearance since winning the US Open, she has been mocked and criticized a lot. But Raducanu has ignored it completely and instead hit back at her doubters.

I’m still finding my feet on the matchcourt, I’m not fully there but that will come with time. I’m just trying to improve my game because I’m not the finished product, far from it. I feel like now is the time to start because I’ve had some illness and injuries over the couple of years since [winning the US Open in 2021].
said Raducanu as per Tennis Head.
So I’m looking forward to working on my game, improving my level and the results will take care of themselves. I’ve never really had the chance to do proper training weeks back-to-back. For six or seven months, before I ended up having the surgeries, I was only practising one or two hours a day just to limit the load on the wrists.

Emma also admitted that her injuries have held her behind. But showing a positive approach, she talked about enjoying the hard work she is putting in. The former World No. 10 also mentioned that her current goal is to improve in practice and then in matches.

I know that when my level will be there, putting it into a match will take some time to apply. But I know that seeing the level increase, that results will follow. Also, I would love to win a title of any grade.
said a confident Raducanu.

The 2024 season has not started well for Emma so far. She started her season at the 2024 Auckland Open but lost in the second round. She lost a close match to eventual runner-up Elina Svitolina. After that, Raducanu played at the 2024 Australian Open, defeating Shelby Rogers in the opening round.

Yafan Wang, however, beat her in a close three-setter in the second round. Raducanu returns to action at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Open. She will take on Marie Bouzkova in the first round, having entered the main draw as a wildcard entrant.
