A few days before the start of the US Open, a sad news came out that Rafael Nadal’s wife, Maria Francisca Perello was suffering from serious pregnancy complications and on account for that, she was admitted to a local clinic in Mallorca. Both Maria and the baby were in trouble due to the complications Maria suffered and due to the US Open commitments, Rafa couldn’t be there in Mallorca.
But as reported by Marca, the good news is that after a few days of hospitalization, both Maria and the baby are out of danger. The baby is completely fine and out of danger but Maria is still recovering and should be fine in the next few days. She is still under observation of the doctors and in Rafa’s absence, his sister is taking care of her well-being.
It was also reported that the Nadal family was very upset with the recent turn of events being leaked into the media. This is a very private matter and it is assumed that videos of Maria’s admission to the hospital were leaked along with some sensitive case files related to her pregnancy. The Nadal family is very angry and also threatened to hold the person who leaked the information accountable and sue him.
Rafael Nadal to face Fabio Fognini at the US Open
Nadal started his US Open campaign by beating Rinky Hijikata in the first round in four sets 4-6,6-2,6-3,6-3. He was rusty to start things but as the match progressed, took full control of the match. He is currently 20-0 at majors in 2022 and will now face Italian Fabio Fognini in the second round. Fognini, a few years ago, came back from 2 sets down to stun Rafa at the US Open so this will be a perfect opportunity for Rafa to avenge that loss.
