“Grass is for Golfers” Daniil Medvedev trolls Wimbledon by playing golf on the inaugural day of the tournament

World No.1 Daniil Medvedev is enjoying some time off the tennis court after being banned from Wimbledon 2022. The All England Club decided to ban Russian and Belarussian players from the 2022 Wimbledon Championships a few months ago to take a stand against Russian atrocities in Ukraine.

Many believed that the ruling was very unfair as the players had nothing to do with the political turmoil. It was like punishing someone who hasn’t committed any crime. Fellow players and fans all around the world came in support of the Russians but Wimbledon stuck to their decision and hence Russian players won’t be seen in this year’s Championships.

On the inaugural day of Wimbledon, Medvedev went to play golf with legendary footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger. The German footballer, who was part of the 2014 world cup winning team, loves golf and wanted Medvedev to play it. The Russian played golf for the first time in his life and was kind of trolling Wimbledon for not letting him play.

Daniil Medvedev, who will still be the World No.1 despite not competing at Wimbledon, will return to the tour at the North American swing. He is expected to play the full American hard court season in the tune-up to the US Open. He will then travel to Flushing Meadows as the defending champion and will mostly be the No.1 seed at the US Open too.
