Grigor Dimitrov back to winning ways in 2024 season

Grigor Dimitrov, who blew hot and cold in the 2023 season, has started the new ATP season on a high. The 32-year-old landed his first title in the very first tournament he played this season. Dimitrov registered some memorable wins in his quest to win the title in Brisbane.

However, Dimitrov faced a setback at the 2024 Australian Open as he had to face a defeat in the third round at the hands of Nonu Borges. Nevertheless, the Bulgarian has bounced back well, as he registered a comprehensive victory over Sebastian Korda in France. The 32-year-old beat the American in straight sets.

While Dimitrov raced to a 6-1 win in the first set, he had to work hard in the second set as it went into a tiebreaker. Korda capitalized on the chances and pushed Dimitrov to the edge. The Bulgarian ace admitted that he was made to work hard in the second set.

I think the first set was amazing. Honestly, whatever I was touching was getting to the right place and in matches like that sometimes it is very difficult to maintain it throughout the two sets. In the second he had one look, and he took it. The game he broke me, amazing returns and just amazing play overall. So he kind of took the ball away from my racquet, and I had to find a way to get back.

The former World No. 3 is expected to meet eighth seed Jiri Lehecka or home favorite Arthur Rinderknech in the Marseille quarterfinals. It is to be seen if Dimitrov lands his second tour-level title or if he will face another heartbreak.
