Elena Rybakina has had a topsy-turvy season this year winning the big prize at Wimbledon but losing quite many few. She started the season well by making it to the final of Adelaide International and defeating 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu in the Sydney Tennis Classic. But she had to withdraw from the tournament due to a thigh injury. She subsequently retired in the second round of the Australian Open. She then played against top seed Maria Sakkari in the Indian Wells Open and Jessica Pegula in the Miami Open, losing on both occasions.

She then exited from the quarter-final round of the Stuttgart Open, Madrid Open, Italian Open, and French Open. She then clinched her first grand slam title i.e., the Wimbledon by defeating Ons Jabeur in the final. She then participated in the Cincinnati Open but lost out to Madison Keys in the quarter-final. She could not manage to proceed beyond the first round at the US Open.

This has been quite a tough season for Karolína Plíšková. She didn’t start well as a hand injury led to her withdrawal from the Australian Open. She failed miserably at Indian Wells Open, Miami Open, and Charleston Open. She also failed to impress at both Stuttgart Open and Madrid Open. She then participated in the Rome Open and the French Open exiting in the first and second rounds respectively.

At Berlin Open, the Czech player reached the quarterfinal round before losing out to Coco Gauff. She crashed out of both Eastbourne and Wimbledon in the second round. She then lost to Beatriz Haddad Maia in a semi-final match of the Toronto Open. She then reached the quarter-final round of the US Open but lost to Aryna Sabalenka. She then participated in the Pan Pacific Open but failed to advance beyond second round of the competition.

Elena Rybakina vs Karolína Plíšková : Prediction

Elena Rybakina

The kind of form in which both the ladies are, it would be tough to call this one. Both are struggling to find their rhythm on the hard court. But Elena Rybakina is in a much better shape compared to Karolína Plíšková. Also, the Kazakh will fancy her chances against the Czech as has seen quite many disappointments this season. But Plíšková won’t go down so easily. As former World No.1, she knows how to play the game well. Also with tons of experience behind her she can pose a great challenge for the Kazakh player.

Prediction: Elena Rybakina will win this match in straight sets.
