Elisabetta Cocciaretto is still trying to find her place in women’s tennis. She started her season by participating in the Lyon Open where she crashed out in the first round itself. She then gained entry into the Italian Open where in front of the home crowd she lost to Swiss Belinda Bencic in straight sets. After failing to qualify, for the main draw of both the Australian Open and French Open, she managed to qualify for Wimbledon and reached the second round of both the women’s singles and doubles events.

She then entered the Swedish Open but could not advance beyond the Round of 32. In the Hungarian Open, the young Italian lost to Bernarda Pera in the quarter-final match. In both the Palermo Ladies Open and Poland Open, she lost to Caroline Garcia of France on both occasions in the Round of 16 matches of the tournaments. In the US Open, she qualified and was defeated by Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the first round.

In the Emilia-Romagna Open, she lost to fellow Italian Jasmine Paolini in the Round of 16 match. In the Round of 64 match of the ongoing Guadalajara Open, she defeated Anastasia Potapova 6-2 6-1.

Coco Gauff has had a fantastic season this year. Her start of the season was bad though, as she exited the Australian Open in the first round. But she made a strong comeback defeating Shelby Rogers, Caroline Garcia, and Paula Badosa to storm into the quarter-final of the Qatar Open. Here, she lost to Maria Sakkari. In doubles, though, she teamed up with Jessica Pegula and won her first WTA 1000 doubles title. Then she made it to the final of the French Open. She managed to reach her career’s first grand slam final but lost to Iga Swiatek.

She also reached the final of the women’s doubles event but lost to the French pair of Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic. At Wimbledon, she was defeated by Amanda Anisimova in the third round. She then lost to Paula Badosa in the third round of the Silicon Valley Classic tournament. In the Canadian Open, she stormed into the quarter-final by defeating Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina in the previous round. In the quarter-final match, however, she succumbed to Simona Halep. She won the women’s doubles title in this tournament with Jessica Pegula.

At the US Open, she reached the quarter-final but could not pass the challenge of Caroline Garcia and lost the match in straight sets. She again lost to Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinal match of the San Diego Open. But won her third women’s doubles WTA title this year with Jessica Pegula in the same tournament.

Coco Gauff is in excellent form this season. She has won three WTA titles this year. But she must be greedy for more. As Iga Swiatek is not playing in the Guadalajara Open, Gauff must be fancying her chances and she would like to take the Guadalajara Open women’s singles title. This match should not be much trouble for the 18-year-old. Elisabetta Cocciaretto has to put up brave resistance to save herself from the American’s onslaught.

Prediction: Coco Gauff will win this match in straight sets.
