“Guy is clueless,” Nick Kyrgios slams Pat Rafter for his harsh comments on the “Special K’s”
Nick Kyrgios slams former world No.1, Pat Rafter for his comments in a podcast.
Nick Kyrgios vs Pat Rafter
Nick Kyrgios doesn’t hold back after facing some harsh comments from the former world No. 1, Patrick Rafter. He said Pat has no clue about his and Thanasi Kokkinakis‘ friendship and synergy. Further, Nick called him “clueless” for his comments.
Speaking in a podcast, the two-time U.S. Open champion talked about the concerns of other players, as they are not happy with the way this duo behaves on the court. He felt that other Australian players were not comfortable with the environment these two bring onto the court.
When asked about doubles tennis Pat said “It’s an interesting one that is, because the players are really upset about it. I don’t know how that operates with them and doesn’t really bother me either way. It’s a bit of a circus…Doubles is a great event, it’s a lot of fun, and it helps you with singles, but it’s not where it’s at. But at the same time, it’s entertainment.”
Pat Rafter also talked about the “entertainment factor” saying that the duo was often seen animated on the court and tried creating drama. It might provide ticket sales, but it’s not worth your fellow teammates’ comfort.
Nick on Wednesday, took to Twitter and replied saying “He would have absolutely zero idea on what the locker room thinks. Me and kokk have great relationships with most of the players on tour. Guy is clueless.”

Nick Kyrgios chooses singles over doubles
Nick Kyrgios is all set for his 10th Australian Open appearance, starting on January 16, 2023. He recently missed the United Cup due to an injury concern and wanted to not risk the major tournament. He has been practicing hard since his recovery and feels confident he can win the title. With an eye on the singles championship, Nick feels that he might drop from the doubles team if needed. The duo of Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis were the defending champions, and it looks like they are fine with Nick’s decision.
Although the duo had registered for the men’s doubles, they now made it clear that they will be focusing on singles. Nick further elaborated on the duo’s dynamic by saying “Definitely I think from both parties. If he’s going deep as well, which he’s more than capable of doing I think that we’re gonna have to. We’re singles players at heart and the doubles Grand Slam last year was just a flash in the pan, how we were able to do that.”
Fans, however, wish that this decision of theirs would be worth something because this duo is giving up the chance to win the men’s doubles title.
