World No. 22 John Isner started his show with a straight-set win over Peter Gojowczyk in the first round, followed by a three-set victory against Benjamin Bonzi in the second round. He was absolutely ruthless in terms of numbers and performance against Bonzi as all the sets were decided by a tie breaker. Isner won the first set and Bonzi won the second but then Isner replied with great resistance and won the match in fine fashion by 7-6(2), 6-7(6), 7-6(5) to progress into the semi-finals.
On the other hand, Maxime Cressy faced a tough test against Steve Johnson in the quarterfinals with neither player was able to find a break of serve in the first set, and the set went to a tie-break and Johnson secured the first set comfortably. Cressy then came back to win the second set and level the tie and then eventually won the third set and secured a semi final berth with a comfortable 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-4 win.
Isner had beaten Cressy in the only game they have played against each other at the 2022 Australian Open.

John Isner will go in as the favorite to win the match given his form and superior ranking. He had a great Wimbledon and he will look to carry on his wonderful form into this tournament and win the title eventually as well. Expect a good match with Isner moving into the next round.
