Alexander Bublik, the 25-year-old Kazakh recently lost the Hall of Fame Championships to French-American player, Maxime Cressy by 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7/3). This was Cressy’s third ATP final, he first lost to Rafael Nadal in Melbourne in January and lost the final at Eastbourne last month to American player Taylor Fritz.

The third final proved to be the charm for Cressy as he wins his maiden ATP title in the form of the Hall of Fame Open, Bublik started the game strong as he won the first set 6-2 and was even winning 3-0 in the second set when Cressy pulled off the comeback to win the set 6-3 and went on to win the third set as well, clinching the title.

Alexander Bublik lost the finals of the Hall of Fame Open and that title and went on to make remarks about his opponent Cressy, calling him lucky and hinting at the amount of luck he had, he should try gambling. Cressy went up to as many as 8 spots in the ATP rankings and is now ranked 33rd after his maiden title win.

Furious after the match, Bublik said, “I’m very upset with the outcome but I’d like to congratulate Max on his first title, he doesn’t even know what he’s doing. Believe me, he doesn’t even know if he’s going to make it or not… It’s really ridiculous, guys. It’s not tennis, you were very lucky. Put all your money on red. You will win big.

After the win, Cressy said, “It’s an incredible feeling to win my first title, I never thought I would win my first title this way. I stuck with it and I got lucky, I look forward to more titles. It’s a very special feeling.
