World No. 11 Emma Raducanu returns to her home turf to commence her grasscourt season as the Brit continues to look for her second career title ever since she won the 2021 US Open. The youngster is yet to reach a semi-final since her US Open win and is hopeful to add a title to her trophy cabinet during this grasscourt season.
Emma did not have a good debut at the 2022 French Open as she lost in the second round to Aliaksandra Sasnovich in 3-sets. Sasnovich had earlier defeated Emma in her first match on the Tour after she had won the US Open and with the win in Paris, she now leads the Grand Slam champion 2-0 in their head-to-head.
Emma Raducanu talks about her admiration for Harry Kane
Raducanu is currently set to play in the 2022 Nottingham Open, a WTA-250 warmup event for the 2022 Wimbledon Championships where Emma is set to make her second tournament appearance after her fantastic debut last year. Emma is the second seed of the tournament and partnering with WTA’s official Twitter handle, a question-answer session was organised where specific questions were picked up by the star and she answered it through small videos.
When asked about her favourite football player, Emma replied, “One of my favourite footballers is probably Harry Kane because he is the captain of England and he is such a great role model to follow and he is super professional and takes everything to the nth degree. I definitely feel like I can learn from that.”
Emma’s reply was not surprising after the Brit was seen sporting Harry Kane‘s Tottenham Hotspurs jersey during her warmup in Stuttgart. Emma’s coaching team includes fans of the London club and they have also made Emma one of the fans of the club and she has been now made Raducanu a ‘Spursy’.
