“He is the best of the Big 3,” Nick Kyrgios puts Rafael Nadal ahead of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the GOAT debate
Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Nick Kyrgios, and Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal scripted history by winning a record 14th Roland Garros title by beating Casper Ruud in the final of the 2022 French Open in straight sets 6-3,6-3,6-0. This was the third time that Nadal bageled an opponent in a grand slam final. This was also his record 22nd grand slam title and he is now two majors ahead of his arch-rivals Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
After Nadal’s win, the ebergreen GOAT debate once again has stirred up. The Big 3- Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic are three of the greatest players to have ever played the sport but amongst the 3, who is the best is always a debatble question. After Nadal’s French Open triumph, many have decalred Nadal as the GOAT.
Australian showman, who is playing the Stuttgart Open this week, has opined on the Big 3 debate. He has called Nadal ‘the best of the Big 3’ simple because be has 22 majors- 2 more than Djokovic and Federer. “Nadal is the best of the Big 3 because he has won 22 Majors while Djokovic and Federer have 20,” Kyrgios said.
Rafael Nadal ahead of Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer?
With his 14th Roland Garros triumph, Nadal has a comfortable 2 major lead over Federer and Djokovic, who are stuck at 20. Realistically, with Federer’s age, he will most likely not add to his grand slam tally but Djokovic could very well catch and even overtake Nadal. The Serb is totally fit and is in the form of his life.
But to date, Nadal has the best record in grand slam finals amongst the 3 and if all of the Big 3 were to stop today, Nadal will definitely end up as the GOAT. But having said that, in the coming two years, Nadal and Djokovic will battle it out for tennis supremacy.
