”They are the future” Fabio Fognini banks on Carlos Alcaraz and Janik Sinner to make it big
Carlos Alcaraz, Janik Sinner
Janik Sinner has played really well this year except for faltering at some critical moments, and those mistakes have cost him dearly. Sinner has played five quarterfinals in the year 2022 and has reached the ’round of 16′ on his every tour. He has not been able to break the quarterfinals jinx, as he always falls short. This time again, Sinner lost in the quarterfinal of the Italian Open 2022 to Stefanos Tsitsipas. Tsitsipas also defeated the young Italian in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open 2022 in straight sets, and he repeated the same feat in front of Sinner’s home crowd.
Carlos Alcaraz on the other hand has been phenomenal with the young Spaniard winning both Barcelona Open and Mutua Madrid Open consecutively. He also defeated both Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic in successive rounds in Madrid to claim the title. Alcaraz has already proved himself to be the among the best while Sinner still has some work to do to fulfill his potential.
Sinner is a young player, and he is still trying to eradicate the weaknesses from his game. His compatriot Fabio Fognini, hails Sinner in high regard and has some advice for him to help Sinner improve.
Fabio Fognini has some advice for Janik Sinner
Fabio Fognini feels that with the talent Sinner has, he is right up there with Carlos Alcaraz, the rising superstar and the winner of two consecutive clay titles. Fognini hails both the players as he also gives out some advice to Sinner to help him get better. Fognini says:
“Alcaraz and Sinner are the future of our sport. Jannik is right to look for variations in his game. He is very strong when he presses you and plays with great rhythm, but the opponents will understand how to play against him and then it will be difficult for him. Today, he makes mistakes trying to vary but he has to do it, it’s important that he does it”
Sinner clearly has to work on lots of stuff but the most important part is getting comfortable with his own natural instincts and if he can do that he might also start winning titles like Alcaraz. Though Tsitsipas managed to outfox Sinner in the quarterfinals at Rome, fans would expect Sinner to come back stronger at the Roland-Garros.
Alcaraz will also return, after a short break in the French Open 2022 and will enter the court as one of the favorites to win the Grand Slam.
