“He wants 30” Novak Djokovic’s former coach reveals the Serbian’s ‘ultimate’ grand slam ambition

Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic has had a rough season so far, starting with his debacle at the Australian Open due to his vaccination status, which led to him being deported. He was prohibited from entering several other countries due to covid regulations and missed on many tournaments as a result.
The 35 year old bounced back by winning the Wimbledon title for the 7th time on Sunday, beating Australian Nick Kyrgios in the final 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3) and taking his tally of slams to 21, besting Roger Federer. The Serbian only trails Rafael Nadal now, who leads the pack with 22.
“Novak Djokovic will play the next five years”: Former coach Bogdan Obradovic

Bogdan Obradovic, former coach of Novak Djokovic has revealed that the Serbian aims to play for 5 more years to complete his tally of 30 grand slams. In a chat with BBC 5 Live, Bogdan said, “He was telling me every time and I know his idea, he wants to come to the number 30, which is three-zero. This is what Novak wants. So, the next five years, he will play. The next five years, he will have probably 20 chances to get those numbers, which is 30 [Grand Slam] titles. Let’s see.”
Despite winning a seventh Wimbledon title, Djokovic is still set for a huge fall in the rankings after ATP’s decision to strip ranking points from the tournament. This was in response to Djokovic’s criticism of the Wimbledon organisers’ choice to ban Russian and Belarusian athletes from competing at the tournament.
As a result, he will be unable to defend the 2,000 ranking points he earned by winning last year’s Wimbledon and is set to fall to no. 7 in the ATP rankings. He might fall further if he is denied entry into the United States to compete in the North American swing and the subsequent US Open. The US Open is set to begin in New York on August 29.
