Elina Svitolina, a former world number three, has been on a hiatus for quite some time. The fans were expecting the Ukrainian star to be back on the court soon as she had chosen to take some time off to some mental tirade due to the Russia-Ukraine war. The bad news for the fans is that she will continue to be on the break for longer than expected.

However, there is a good reason for the continued hiatus and a happy one. Svitolina and her husband Gael Monfils are expecting a baby girl in October. Monfils is also a former world number 6 and a great entertainer on the court. He is one of the most athletic tennis players with some obsession for tweeners as well.

Svitolina is married to Gael Monfils, a French tennis player. They started dating in 2019 and announced their engagement on April 3, 2021, before marrying on July 16, 2021. Elina Svitolina is a brilliant tennis player with numerous career titles under her belt, and she, along with Gael Monfils, is among the strongest tennis couples.

Svitolina has been quite vocal about the atrocities her country is facing at the hands of Russia and the condition quite hurts her that Ukraine is in. This baby girl will surely bring joy into the life of Svitolina and Monfils as she will also bring the new life into the world, and it will help her heart heal from the pains she has felt due to the pitiable condition of her war-torn nation.

Fans would hope that Svitolina would be back on the court for practice sessions after the birth of her child and then return to the tour with a new supporter in her camp. Both Svitolina and Monfils will consider this as the beginning of the second phase of their lives and their tennis as well.
