There’s been no dearth of opinions being passed around on the approach with which the 28-year-old Nick Kyrgios has to his tennis mannerisms. The opening week at the Wimbledon 2022 has been a template for that.

“If Nick’s willing to beat you and entertain people whilst he does it, then why not? I think it’s good for the sport,” – says Liam Broady, another 28-year-old tennis player from the United Kingdom.

If you give yourself a moment, there’s quite a considerable amount of substance to this. What can be termed as a condescending nature on part of Nick, can also be viewed as just another way of playing the sport of tennis which is watched and revered by so many around the globe.

Yes, there have been sufficient incidents to indicate that Kyrgios can often go overboard with his way of plying his trade. But what transpired in the 3rd round match between Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas is a more layered topic than most of us think it to be.

“I know Stef and he’s a nice guy, but I’m not sure it was really bullying. It can feel like that when he’s doing it in front of the whole crowd, and obviously, Wimbledon fans love Nick Kyrgios,” – Broady believes that what the Australian brings to the table is a unique aspect. It’s fair to say that Kyrgios has a fanbase. When you hear the crowds respond to his gestures when he keeps egging them, you know you’re witnessing a special relationship of a player who has struck a chord with his audience.

“I love it. I think Nick’s brilliant for the sport,” is one of the other notable inputs by Broady. There’s no secret to the fact that Kyrgios has many eyeballs fixated on him when he comes out and plays. That gives him a lot of responsibility in terms of having the appropriate conduct and respect for the sport and pertaining details. He’s not known to be a guy to top this list. But it’s just different every time he’s in the limelight. He seems to enjoy it and give us a taste of it. He keeps surprising us with newer antics and this week he learned not all of his opponents would appreciate that.
