Holger Rune has been one of the prominent names on the ATP Tour in the past year. The Danish prodigy became the youngest player to win the Paris Masters title since Boris Becker in 1986. Australian tennis player, Nick Kyrgios has lavished praise on the youngster, and has termed him as a multi Grand Slam winner prospect.

Holger Rune is still in the initial days of his career, which pretty much explains his frequent outbursts on court. The Dane has an aggressive nature, which matches with his playing style as well. Stefanos Tsitsipas had also praised Holger Rune for maturing so early, however, he believes that the youngster is obsessed with tennis.

Rune and Tsitsipas have a track record of verbal spats on court, with their fourth round encounter at the French Open being an example. However, Nick Kyrgios brushed away all other concerns, and asked the Danish people to support their tennis star.

Holger Rune reached four consecutive finals in the last quarter of the season, claiming two titles in the process. Nick Kyrgios believes that the 19-year-old will have to deal with a lot of pressure and expectations in the coming years. The Wimbledon 2022 runner-up took no time in admitting the fact that the Dane was one of the biggest talents in tennis currently.

“He’s got the ability to win multiple Grand Slams. If I was Denmark, anyone who had Holger Rune, I would just make sure they support him, give him all the support. He’s a young guy. He’s super-young. He’s doing everyone proud around him. He’s going to deal with a lot of pressure and expectations,” said Kyrgios.

Seeded ninth at the 2023 Australian Open, Holger Rune faces Filip Krajinovic in the first round encounter on Tuesday. Given his prowess on hard courts, the 19-yera-old should be pretty confident about having a deep run in Melbourne this time around. He was knocked out in the first round of the Adelaide Open by Yoshihito Nishioka in three sets. The youngster has had plenty of time to go back to the drawing board for one final time before the first Major of the year.
