Nick Kyrgios, who is considered to be the bad boy of tennis, has shown consistency in his game, unlike in previous years. He has been constantly doing well on the tour and is just a couple of match wins from being a seeded player at Wimbledon 2022. Latest, he stunned second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round at Queen’s Club in three sets 5-7,6-2,6-4 to reach yet another quarterfinal on the grass where he’ll meet Pablo Carreno Busta.
Kyrgios started his grass-court season by reaching the semifinal of the Stuttgart Open last week where he lost to Andy Murray. A few days ago, the Aussie ranked himself amongst one of the best players in the world on the lush green surface.
Many former players and experts believe that Kyrgios always has had the right game for grass but this year, for a change, he has the right mindset too. American Andy Roddick spoke about Kyrgios’ chances at Wimbledon, especially with many top players missing out. Speaking to Tennis Channel, Roddick said that no one knows if Kyrgios is training or not or if his body is ready to hold up the wounds of grand slam tennis or not. The uncertainty around Kyrgios makes it even more difficult to predict how well he’ll do.
“The thing about Kyrgios is that, can his body hold up, do we know if he’s been training? One of the things that makes him so fantastic to watch is we just don’t know where his body is at, we don’t know where his game is at most of the time,” Roddick said.

Roddick added that one thing we know for sure is that he can play flat out on grass and isn’t scared to go up against the big names in world tennis. He also has experience of playing and winning on big courts and if one is a seeded player, he won’t like seeing Kyrgios’ name anywhere around him in the initial rounds.
“But one thing we do know is that the guy can flat out play on grass, he’s not scared to go against the biggest names in the game, center court, big courts, he likes them even more so, you do not want to see him if you’re a seeded player anywhere near your name in the first couple of rounds,” Roddick said.
