22-time grand slam champion Rafael Nadal is currently enjoying some time off the tennis court after getting himself injured at Wimbledon. Nadal was gunning for a 23rd major title last week but unfortunately, he had an abdomen tear during his quarterfinal match against Taylor Fritz as a result of which he had to withdraw ahead of his semifinal clash.

Nadal has had a tremendous season where he won the first two majors of the year- The Australian Open and the French Open consecutively for the first time in his career. He has clearly been the best player of the season but injuries haven’t spared him this season too. The abdomen injury is the third injury of the season that has ruled Nadal out for multiple weeks.

The Spaniard will now compete directly in the coming month at the North-American swing. He will play the Montreal Masters and the Cincinnati Masters before eventually competing at the US Open. Nadal will be competing in Canada for the first time in 3 years. He missed out last year due to a foot injury and has won the last two times he played at the Canada Masters- 2018 and 2019.
