Denmark prodigy Holger Rune played some incredible level of tennis when he shattered the dreams of Novak Djokovic’s hope for a third consecutive title of the year at the 2022 Paris Masters. Both players went into a 26-shot rally in the final game of the match playing some incredible level of tennis. The last game lasted for more than 16 minutes despite Rune losing his first championship point 13 minutes into the final game.
He lost the first set of the match to the 21-time Grand Slam champion with a 6-3 score. But bounced back brilliantly in the next two sets and eventually won the match. He came down from 1-3 down in the third set to hand the 21-time Grand Slam champion a first defeat since 2018. Rune became the first player to defeat five Top-10 opponents to win his Masters title.
When the scoreline was 6-5 40-40, the Danish player was serving for the game to win an upper hand over the Serbian. But it was astounding to see a 26-shot rally between the two that amazed people in the stadium as well on social media. Despite the exemplary showdown, the 2022 Paris Masters champion lost the point and awarded an advantage to the Serbian.
The final game went on for a long time with both the finalists never giving up on their fighting spirit while one was aiming for his first Masters 1000 title and the other one looking to defend his title. The 9-time Australian Open champion created five break points but still couldn’t make use of the double fault advantage in the fifth break point by the 19-year-old. It was quite nerve-wracking to watch as the final game ended almost after 16 minutes of play while the complete match went on for 2 hours and 32 minutes.

He defeated three-time champion Stan Wawrinka, Hubert Hurkacz, and Andrey Rublev in the earlier stages of the competition while Felix Auger Aliassime in the semifinals and a 6-time Bercy champion in the finals to clinch his first Masters1000 title. Holger Rune also ended the Canadian’s 16-match winning streak in the semi-finals.
It looked quite a turning point in the game where Djokovic could have an advantage but the 2022 Swiss Indoors finalist delivered in the crunch points and took away the win. Fans on social media went crazy and overwhelmed by the fantastic show in the finals where both players were appreciated for their fighting spirit and amazing skills.
