Danish youngster Holger Rune makes a well-detailed positive review of Rafael Nadal after his practice and is expecting big things ahead of the Spaniard heading into the new year. Both players had a joint practice session ahead of their games at Brisbane International.
Top seed at this tournament, Rune shared a few insights on his practice against the ‘king of clay’ during an interview with the Brisbane press. To the delight of millions of Nadal fans, the Dane shared a few positive remarks about the Spaniard, whom he recently practiced with.
He revealed that he found this practice to be one of the hardest practices he had for half a year. He also found Nadal to move exceptionally well, backed up by his powerful shots.
It’s funny like after the practice, I talked to my team and I thought he was unbelievable. Like, you know, we were hitting, he was hitting strong. He always used to hit strong also and then we started points and I thought he was moving very well, moving side to side extremely fast and I think the intensity he brings is incredible.Said Rune in an interview with the Brisbane International press.

After a year of rest, all eyes will be on Nadal and his form. But tennis enthusiasts will also keep an eye on Rune, who is the No. 1 seed in this tournament after closing out his previous season incredibly well.
Holger Rune and Rafael Nadal’s draws at the Brisbane International
Brisbane International has already started with its qualifier matches and will soon start its Round of 16 matches with the already qualified players. Rafael Nadal, the Spaniard, is set to make his return at this tournament, and he will face one of the qualifiers as his first match back on the court.
The Spaniard will also feature in the doubles matches alongside his partner, Marc Lopez. The Spanish duo are set to begin their tournament tomorrow against the Australian duo, Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson.
Also playing in both singles and doubles tournaments is the young talent Holger Rune. After an incredible end to his 2023 campaign, Rune starts his fresh season in Brisbane, entering as the No. 1 seed.
Rune is set to face Max Purcell on January 1 in the Round of 16 of the tournament. He also teamed up with the British great Andy Murray to face off against the Russian duo of Aslan Karatsev and Roman Safiullin in the doubles leg of the tournament.
With a huge season in Australia, Rune, along with the other players, will look to gain some momentum here before the Grand Slam.
