Former tennis player and legend Boris Becker is at the center of a rumor suggesting that he might be the next potential coach for tennis player Holger Rune. He was also a part of Holger’s team during his training week in Monaco. Becker was reportedly watching over the practice session.

Holger Rune’s mother and agent, Aneke, later confirmed that the tennis great Boris Becker was constantly in touch with the team. She told Ekstra Bladet, “They have been in daily contact since we parted ways in Monaco. The starting point is certainly good to build on.”

Aneke believes that getting the insight of a player like Boris Becker might just be the secret ingredient that Holger Rune has been missing. He has had a series of unsuccessful tournaments and is evidently struggling with his form.

Talking about getting Boris Becker to advise her son, Aneke stated,“If we listen to the experience of a former top player, perhaps we can avoid some costly mistakes on our way. And Boris was also very young, even younger than Holger, when he achieved great success achieved.”

Holger Rune was previously being coached by Lars Christensen, followed by Patrick Mouratoglou. Even then, he did not display any drastic change and remains in the poor form that he is in. The last time Becker was a coach was with the Serbian legend, Novak Djokovic, for a brief period between 2013 to 2016.

The World No.6 was expected to end the season early to recover from his injury. However, Rune aims to compete at the ATP Finals in Turin later this year. A change in the team would surely do him good and all the talks regarding Boris Becker being roped in as his coach might just be the change Rune is missing.
