Holger Rune, one of the rising stars in tennis, has done everything right in his career but was unable to get the one final push that gets him those championship wins. While Rune has won a few championships, he hasn’t won any Grand Slams.
Recently, the young Dane starred in the Netflix show ‘BreakPoint’, where they ran through his rise to the top after being one of the youngsters on Tour. In the show, they featured his iconic run at the 2022 ATP Masters 1000 in Rome.

Taking that season as an example, his mother, Aneke Rune, revealed that her son uses the emotions of the match to improve himself. During that tournament, he achieved one of his biggest wins by beating Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals. In the highly emotional match, the Dane played one of his best games to advance to the semi-finals.
He was very sad. It was tough. It was very emotional for him. To win against Novak is emotional, very big for Holger. To lose a final where you maybe know that you could have done differently, it’s also very tough. It’s emotions in two different directions but both of them are important emotions for the lesson of learning.Said Aneke Rune via ATP.
After one emotional win, he faced a very bitter loss against Daniil Medvedev in the finals. Experiencing two ends of a spectrum, his mother revealed that they were important lessons for her son. Falling just short of a major title, Rune fell to the Russian.

Holger Rune, the young Dane, is one of the most promising players on tour and is eagerly awaiting his big break. Despite multiple ATP titles, the 20-year-old hasn’t made a strong statement in the main events.

Nonetheless, his mother, Aneke Rune, is extremely proud of him and reveals her son’s love and passion for the sport. Working extremely hard to achieve perfection, he has made many changes in his game.
Recently, Rune separated from the former coach of Roger Federer, Severin Luthi. After only being with him for a little over a month, the Dane decided to part ways and promote his other coach, Kenneth Carlson, to one of the lead coaches.
Along with them, Boris Becker continues to be in the camp, assisting wherever possible. It is true that Rune has played differently under the assistance of Becker and will only continue to do better in the future. Rune will feature in the Open Sud de France, where he is the No. 1 seed.
