With the draws for this year’s US Open finally revealed, last year’s finalist Leylah Fernandez as American icon Serena Williams as her potential opponent in the tournament. Fernandez is just like millions of people around the world who adore Serena. She opened up about how she’d feel if she actually faced Williams in the tournament.

Fernandez said, “Wow, I haven’t seen the draw, I didn’t know that she (Serena Williams) was in my bracket, but I think I am just so excited just by knowing that I might potentially meet Serena in New York. It could be a dream come true for me, you always dream to play against legends, the greatest of all time players that you have admired for so long. You always wanted to do that. The result doesn’t matter, but you feel like you want to have that time with her on the court, not just in practice but in competition as well.

She also talked about how her game improved in the meantime, she said, “I think it has improved a lot, we have always tried to improve my game every year, see what I can work on, see what I need to do to get better at because we seek perfection.

In the first round of the 2022 US Open, Leylah Fernandez will be going up against French professional Oceane Dodin.
