“I could stare at her all day,” Emma Raducanu shares her thrilling fan-girl moment on meeting the Duchess of Cambridge

Emma Raducanu, the No 1 British player, won her maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open in 2021 defeating Leylah Fernadez in straight sets. This year, she is looking forward to defending her title with her strong footwork, great court coverage skills, and also has strong forehand. She holds the Open Era record for the fewest majors played before winning a title. She made her debut in the Top 10 of the WTA rankings and stands at the 10th spot, her career-best rankings.

The British player has been struggling with a lot of injuries which has led to her inconsistent performances after the win at the US Open. This year, she faced initial round exits at three Grand Slam events. She will return to action in the Citi Open ahead of the North American hard-court swing. She is yet to win an ATP Tour title. She won the best athlete in women’s tennis award at the ESPY Awards 2022 and has also won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2021.

“It was a star-struck moment”: Emma Raducanu on meeting with the members of the Royal family

As per tradition, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton is a regular attendee at the Royal Box at the All England Club every year, especially making her presence at the final stages of the competition. Raducanu, a fan of the Royal family, got the chance to meet the Duchess of Cambridge after her win at the US Open and she was left awestruck at that moment. She encountered a thrilling fangirl moment that cannot be expressed in words.

Recently, in an interview, upon asking about the experience of meeting the Duchess, she was full of excitement about speaking about them. She said, “I’ve met some really cool people, but when I met the duchess I was definitely [starstruck]. I could stare at her all day. Just watch her talk, watch her do everything“.

The cherry on the cake was when she met the Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and she even got a letter from the Queen herself. She added “And also the Queen. I got a letter from her. That was a pretty starstruck moment. When asked about the whereabouts of the letter, she instantly replied ‘No, I’ve hidden it.’
