Lorenzo, at the post-match interview, praised his opponent Alcaraz for a great match and is hopeful of playing with him again in the future. He said “Carlos, you are a fantastic player. You saved so many match points today. You inspire me so much in my sacrifices, that’s why I didn’t give up in this game. Tennis TV published a video from three years ago when we were still kids playing challengers. We are still young but we are both playing better. I hope that we can still play great battles in the future“
He further thanked his family and coach Simone Tartarini for his consistent guidance and support and was super happy with his win, especially after winning his first ATP500 title. He hoped to reach new heights and win more titles and in the end, dedicated his win to his grandmother, who passed away recently. He said “I finally managed to make him cry. It was not easy. Thanks to Umberto Rianna, who followed me for the first time. Thanks to my parents who aren’t there and are probably crying. I dedicate the title to my grandmother.“
Both Musetti and Alcaraz are scheduled to play the ATP250 clay-court tournament in Umag, Croatia later this week. Since they are on the opposite of the draw, there are chances they both might meet again in the finals if they win their respective matches until the final.
