Daniil Medvedev, the 26-year-old is currently one of the best players in the world, ranked world number 1 has had his fair share of success despite being relatively young. With one Grand Slam title under his belt, he has 13 ATP tour singles titles as well which makes him a formidable opponent for anyone who faces him.

Currently competing at the Los Cabos Open where the Russian won his round of 16 tie against Rinky Hijikata as he was able to pull off a comfortable win, these wins at the event will give some much-needed momentum for the upcoming US Open as Medvedev will be looking to defend his title.

Ahead of his Los Cabos Open campaign, Daniil Medvedev talked to the media about fellow stars Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic and expressed his admiration for the two players. Widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, Nadal and Djokovic lead the tally of Grand Slam titles with 22 and 21 titles to their name respectively.

Talking about their success, Medvedev said, “To identify Rafa I have one word, amazing. He is an amazing fighter, an amazing warrior and an amazing person, with great mental strength.” Nadal beat Daniil Medvedev in the French Open final this season and talking about that game, the Russian continued, “It was a great match; at Roland Garros, he increased his Grand Slam titles to 22 and I was happy, as I was with Nole (Novak Djokovic) when he made 21 at Wimbledon.”

Novak Djokovic has had his fair share of controversies this season due to his unvaccinated status but the Serbian still managed to keep his streak going on the grass court when he beat Nick Kyrgios at the final of the 2022 Wimbledon to clinch the 21st Grand Slam title of his career.

After beating Hijikata in the first round of the Los Cabos Open, Medvedev is scheduled to face Ričardas Berankis in the quarter-finals of the event that is scheduled for tomorrow.
