“I will fight for every point” Aryna Sabalenka hopeful to beat World No.1 Iga Swiatek in the US Open semifinal

Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka
Aryna Sabalenka has made her way into the semi-final of the US Open where she will have to battle World No. 1 Iga Swiatek. Sabalenka defeated Karolína Plíšková, 6-1, 7-6(4) to reach the final four of the prestigious grand slam. Sabalenka is displaying some incredible tennis at this major even after missing out on Wimbledon.
The Belarusian tennis star has been having a slow season. She reached the final at the Stuttgart Open and the semifinal at the Italian Open this year, losing both to her next opponent Iga Swiatek. Sabalenka’s game is defined by her hard-hitting forehand and her strategy to keep the rallies short. She has 10 WTA titles to her name. Looking back, she reached the semifinal of the US Open last year but lost to Leylah Fernandez.
Always tough matches against her: Aryna Sabalenka gets ready to battle Iga Swiatek

The challenge that is ahead of World No.6, Sabalenka is not an easy one considering she has already lost to Swiatek numerous times this year. On her upcoming match, Sabalenka commented, “It’s going to be tough, and I know I have to really work hard for this win. Now I will just go there and fight for every point.”
She further added, “She’s a great player, always tough matches against her. She’s moving well, hitting the ball really well, serving well. She’s a tough opponent, but I’ll do my best there and I’ll make her work as much as I can.” Iga Swiatek leads the head-to-head between them with 3-1. The only time Sabalenka defeated her was in the WTA finals last year when she won by 2-6 6-2 7-5.
Sabalenka has suffered early exits this year at grand slams but is looking to redeem herself this time. Only time will tell how she overcomes what will possibly be her toughest match at the US Open. In the post-match press conference, Sabalenka said she is going to fight for every point.
