Iga Swiatek finishes the 2023 season with over twice as bagels and breadsticks than second-ranked Jessica Pegula as the Top-10 list is revealed

It has been yet another year of complete dominance and many successes for WTA World No. 1 Iga Swiatek. As the 2023 season comes to a close, all the season-long stats are released one by one, and one of the most talked-about aspects of the game are breadsticks and bagels. In tennis, bagels are described as a set that a player wins by a scoreline of 6-0.
Likewise, breadsticks are sets that one wins by a scoreline of 6-1. Iga Swiatek leads the race in acquiring the most bagels and breadsticks, ahead of second-placed Jessica Pegula and third-placed Aryna Sabalenka.
Swiatek has managed a total of 56 bagels and breadsticks this year, showing her prowess yet again after a successful last season. She has managed to stay at the top of the rankings all year, just losing the spot for one month to Sabalenka after the US Open.
She won her spot back yet again after winning the WTA Finals, announcing her dominance in the field of women’s tennis yet again. Apart from the stats, she has also managed over five titles this season, namely the Qatar Open, the Stuttgart Open, the Poland Open, and the China Open, and recently emerged victorious in the WTA Finals. She also managed to win the Roland Garros, making it the only Grand Slam title for this year.
How did the other players on the list fare this season?
After Iga Swiatek on the list is the American star Jessica Pegula, who acquired half the number of bagels and breadsticks acquired by the Polish star. Pegula had an okayish year, with the only major title to showcase for the season being the Canadian Open.
Next up on the list is the Belraussian strikeforce, Aryna Sabalenka, who has been by far the most consistent player for the year.
Sabalenka has managed to make it to the semi-finals of all four Grand Slams despite managing to win just the Australian Open. Followed up by Coco Gauff in the list, who has taken the sport by storm in the last few months, winning three titles in the space of just three months.
She went on to become the first American women’s tennis player to win the US Open in over six long years.
