One of the more common questions nowadays that athletes need to really counter is about their retirement. They are asked if they see themselves in any other profession. Whether they want to be related to the sport or if they want to change their profession, Iga Swiatek had recently answer a similar question. Her father, Tomasz Swiatek, recently made surprising comments on Swiatek’s career, and thus the daughter had to clear up a few rumors.
In an interview with the Polish press, she was asked how she wanted to end her career. Also, if she has any other career options in mind. This is what the World No. 1 had to say. “I can tell the fans that there is nothing to think about because I don’t do it myself. I think I will be the kind of tennis player who will finish when I’m in my thirties.”
She clearly feels that she will retire in her thirties around eight to ten years down the line. She also confessed that she knows that there are many interesting things she can do post-retirement. She has thought of a few and might just do them once she finishes. However for now her focus will completely be on her ongoing prime career. She is the current number 1 and will aim to stay there.

Can Swiatek defend her US Open crown?
The only hard-court Grand Slam that Iga Swiatek holds is the US Open. She won the event last year when she defeated Ons Jabeur in the final in front of a packed New York crowd.
Swiatek would love to repeat a similar feat at the venue. It won’t be typically easy with the growing competition around her, but surely she’ll enter the event as the favorite. She will first have to brush aside thoughts of an early Wimbledon exit.
It was an unusual one, but not one that she could think about forever. She should draw inspiration from her French Open win earlier this year. Overall, Swiatek has done a great job on the Tour and would like to continue the same form on the North American hard courts. With that being said, can the Polish ace maintain her streak as the No. 1 player in the world?
