World No. 2 Iga Swiatek, who just got stripped of the top spot after getting knocked out of the US Open in the fourth round, has talked about making several changes for her future. Swiatek has had one of the toughest and busiest schedules in the last few months, and due to her staying at the peak of the rankings for 73 weeks straight, she was forced to play on numerous tours, leading to her straining her body.

In a recent interview with Eurosport, she focused on her plans for getting back on track and starting off fresh after losing her number one spot to Aryna Sabalenka recently. She spoke about how stressful it has been for her in the last couple of months, and despite succumbing to two injuries, she had to participate in the majority of the tournaments.

Iga felt that her reign as World No. 1 had a lot of effect on her form in the last couple of months, saying, “The truth is that there was little time to train. This is the second season in which I have played the most games among all the girls, and I suffered two injuries. I think that, if I were not the leader of the world ranking and I was 22 years old, I would have much more time to develop as an athlete.”

How does Iga Swiatek plan on starting off the next year?

Iga Swiatek, who has suffered hugely this year due to her numerous participations in several tournaments, has already planned her schedule for next year. She has hinted at going easy with her body and not stressing it way too much by being on tour all year. Swiatek also plans on taking a few weeks’ break between tournaments to focus on her skillsets and improve herself.

She said, “Next season we will definitely think about the calendar. I’m the type of player who clearly needs a full week or two to improve my technique. Because it can always happen that the technique fails, you start to panic and think in your head what to do to play better.” Swiatek has already stacked up four titles this year, but it has not been a great year for her in terms of Grand Slams winning just one at the Roland Garros which also saw her slip down to the World No. 2 spot.
