Iga Swiatek, the reigning queen of women’s tennis, has once again proved her mettle on the court by defending her Porsche Tennis Grand Prix title. In an epic battle against World No.2 Aryna Sabalenka, Swiatek emerged victorious with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-4 in a hard-hitting championship match.

The match was a rematch of last year’s final, and the top two players in the Hologic WTA Tour rankings put up a great show. Swiatek maintained her undefeated career record at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix with this win, having won all eight of her matches in her two appearances at the tournament. The victory was also Swiatek‘s 13th career singles title and her third title defense, having previously defended her titles at 2022 Rome and Doha this year.

Swiatek’s performance in the tournament has been exceptional. She has pulled off two of the three title defenses on tour this season, with the other being Tatjana Maria’s Bogota title defense earlier this month. With her latest win, Swiatek has now tied Aryna Sabalenka and Belinda Bencic for the most titles won so far this season.

Swiatek’s win against Sabalenka was not an easy feat, and the Polish superstar was made to work hard for her victory. Sabalenka put up a valiant fight, but Swiatek’s superior technique and mental strength proved to be the difference between the two players.
