World No. 1 Iga Swiatek recently signed a deal with the Swedish sports brand “On,” which is also run by tennis legend Roger Federer. Iga was one of the many players alongside Ben Shelton to join hands with Federer, who has been a huge investor and is also the brand ambassador of the new company. Meanwhile, both Iga and Shelton have been wearing the ‘On’ kit and shoes at the ongoing US Open 2023.
The brand is quite new, and a lot of improvements are to be made in the coming days. Iga expressed her discomfort with the shoes. Shelton was asked about this issue at the press conference, including how he feels wearing the shoes and the reason behind Swiatke still not being able to switch to her new brand. He said, “Yeah, I think that was something for me; I knew a lot of the things that I wanted with my shoe. It wasn’t too complicated.”
He added, “But when you’re winning multiple Grand Slams on different surfaces, competing at the highest level, your movement is your biggest weapon, for someone like Iga, I think it would probably be a little bit more difficult than me who hadn’t played before on clay, hadn’t played before on grass.
Continuing her train of thought, he further added, “The only thing I had to go off of was the On shoe. I think it was a lot easier for me to adjust. I’m sure that she’ll figure it out and be in the shoe soon.”
How has Iga Swiatek looked so far at the US Open?

The World No. 1 Iga Swiatek has already won one out of the three possible Grand Slam titles, missing out on the Australian Open and the Wimbledon Championships and winning the French Open. With the last Slam of the year kicking off, Swiatek started her campaign in great spirits, knocking out Rebecca Peterson in straight sets, giving the Swede absolutely no chance of coming back into the match.
She won the match by 6-0, 6-1, and in the second-round encounter against Daria Saville, she looked dominant yet again, winning the match by 6-3, 6-4. She has hugely dominated her opponents in the first two games, and the number of unforced errors is also quite low, proving her confidence in the ongoing competition. She is now set to play Kaja Juvan on Friday in the round of 32 encounter, with a chance to go forward and just four matches away from the title.
