Stefanos Tsitsipas and Frances Tiafoe

Team World defeated Team Europe for the very first time to claim their maiden Laver Cup at the O2 Arena last weekend. In the end, American Frances Tiafoe stunned Stefanos Tsitsipas in three sets 1-6,7-6(11),10-8 to win the Laver Cup for Team World. Despite all the limelight on Roger Federer due to his retirement, Team World ensured that they don’t get carried away and played some world-class tennis to cause an upset on Sunday evening.

But amidst all this, Team World is already under a lot of criticism because of their attitude. During Tiafoe’s match against Tsitsipas, Tommy Paul and many other members of Team World were seen making some inappropriate jokes on Tsitsipas dad, who is also his coach. Adding to that, Tiafoe too made some bad remarks during the changeover in front of the camera and nobody in Team World’ dugout seemed to mind it.

While Tsitsipas may not be the most loved person on tour due to his attitude and his involvement with his father during his matches, he surely doesn’t deserve such bad comments from his peers. Tiafoe made a racist comment and referred to Tsitsipas as a ‘Greek Yogurt’. Aggressively, he even said that he will lose to anyone but Tsitsipas, which showed how much he hated the Greek.

Tennis fans on social media didn’t like the way Tiafoe, or the entire Team World was acting. Fans called out their disrespectful, racist, and unsportsmanlike comments and also questioned the ATP whether they’ll let these remarks slide away without any action or not.
