Serena Williams is one of the biggest names in tennis. She is considered to be the pioneer of modernization of women’s tennis and is responsible for scaling women’s tennis to newer heights through the brand value she brought to the table. Serena is also one of the most famous celebrities in the world and is friends with fellow celebrities across diverse fields.
Of late, there has been a lot of unnecessary spotlight on Serena Williams’ friendship with Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex. Williams and Markle were very good friends but according to the latest development, Williams denied her friendship with Markle.
In a book written by British investigative journalist Tom Bower, he mentions that Serena has denied any claims of friendship with the Duchess of Sussex. “You’ve got to be who you are, Meghan. You can’t hide,” Williams said according to Kushner, as mentioned in Bower’s book.

After these claims, Bower has been criticized a lot by fans over social media but there are some people who have kept an open mind and asked whether these claims are true or not. Serena and Meghan have shared a very special and vocal bond over the years and have highly spoken of each other too.
“We’ve always had a wonderful friendship. She, every year for a couple of years, comes out to Wimbledon and has supported me. Now, she’s supporting me in a different role but our friendship is still exactly the same,” Williams once said of Markle.
For instance, Serena once mentioned that despite giving birth to her child just a few days ago, Meghan flew to New York to see Serena play the 2019 US Open final. She also revealed that she could call or text Meghan anytime in any mood because that’s the kind of bond they share.
“She flew all the way with a newborn to see me play in New York and flew all the way back that night, and I probably couldn’t have done that. It just kind of goes to show you what an amazing person she is, and that’s just one of the many things that she does for me. I call her, text her anytime, crying, upset, she’s always there. Doesn’t matter what she’s going through, she just sets time away, and she’s just so amazing,” she said a few years ago.
So looking at all the proof available, it is very hard to say that Serena and Meghan aren’t friends but nothing can be said for certain as things could’ve changed drastically in the last couple of years.
