Jessica Pegula, the 28-year-old American professional is one of the best players in the women’s tennis circuit currently, sitting at world number 8, Pegula has cemented herself as a formidable opponent for any player in the world currently and she was one of the contenders going into the 2022 US Open.
Pegula has put in good performances for the majority of her North American swing, she was eliminated in the second round of the Citi Open, she managed to reach the semi-final stage of the Canadian Open where she was eliminated by Simona Halep, and the American was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open.

Jessica Pegula started off her US Open campaign with a bang, she managed to reach the quarter-final stages of the tournament. She made her way by defeating Viktorija Golubic in the first round, Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the second round, Yue Yuan in the third round, Petra Kvitova in the round of 16 stage.
With her form, Pegula looked to be going all the way towards the title but her dreams were cut short after she went up againt world number 1, Iga Swiatek in the quarter-finals of the tournament, where Pegula was eliminated after losing in straight sets to the Polish professional who is in excellent form.
Talking about her loss in the post-match press conference, Pegula said, “Sorry, but it sucks. It sucks. I wish I could have done it here at my home Slam. I wish I didn’t have to play Iga every QF or Ash, which seem to be the two people that don’t really lose that often. I don’t know. I’m a little deflated right now.“
Iga Swiatek continues her amazing run of form at the US Open as she has succesfully made her way into the semi-finals of the tournament, the Polish international will be going up against Aryna Sabalenka and will be looking to book her place in the finals of the event.
