Novak Djokovic won his 21st Grand slam title and his fourth Wimbledon title in a row yesterday after defeating Nick Kyrgios by 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (3) in a thrilling encounter. The Serbian has the world at its feet after he keeps displaying his class on the court year after year, this was the 7th Wimbledon title of his career and his 21st Grand Slam title which saw him overtake Roger Federer’s tally of 20 titles and just one title away from matching Rafael Nadal’s tally of 22 titles.

After losing the first set in yesterday’s match, Djokovic’s experience and composure came in handy in defeating Kyrgios whom he had never beaten twice before and was not able to even win a set against the Australian. The experience and the handling of pressure in such situations are what let Djokovic cruise through to a victory.

It has been a difficult year. He is past Roger and is chasing Rafa again, so the race is still there. I think it is very interesting for the sport in general. It’s good that Novak keeps on winning because he is such a professional player.

I cannot even believe it. We all thought Pete Sampras’ 14 Grand Slams were never going to be reached. They went over that with 20, and now, again, Novak is chasing Rafa. I think it is interesting while both are healthy; we are waiting for Roger, of course,” he said further. Djokovic has overtaken Federer and now is just one title away from Nadal’s tally for most majors won.
