Goran Ivanišević opens about Novak Djokovic’s career and his consistency
Ever since the pandemic, Novak Djokovic has been subject to controversies especially due to his stance on the Covid-19 vaccine which got him a lot of heat from fans and the media alike, it caused the Serbian to miss many tournaments and he is now on the verge of missing the US Open which commences in a month. Goran Ivanisevic, who is currently coaching Djokovic talked about the Serbian’s limit as far as Grand Slams are concerned.
Ivanisevic said, “If someone had said ten years ago that both of them would surpass Federer, they would not have believed it. Even before I was in the team, I said that both Novak and Nadal would have more Grand Slam titles than Roger, and now it is coming true. It’s hard to say how much he’ll have in the end, they’re denying him the US Open now. Australia is good news that mandatory vaccinations have been waived, but the government has to forgive him the three-year sentence. That might be OK. If they’re healthy, I don’t know where they’ll end up.“
Ivanisevic also called Djokovic arguably the best player on grass and the Serbian definitely proved that as he won his 7th Wimbledon title and also his 4th title in a row, he continues to dominate the tournament every year. Even though the ATP decided to remove points from Wimbledon this year, it was still necessary for Djokovic to win the tournament and that goes to show his elite mentality and never-ending hunger for titles.
