Serena Williams needs no introduction. The 40-year-old American is one of the most beloved players in the history of tennis with a whooping 23 Grand Slams second only to Margaret Court.

The American recently came on the talk show of a very popular host Ellen and talked about various topics including her daughter and of course King Richard.

For those of you not aware of King Richard, it is an Oscar movie that narrates the story of Venus and Serena Williams with their father Richard who shapes their tennis career. When the film won an Oscar, who better would be proud of the film than the William sisters and their father. This was exactly the case as Serena goes on to say that she was very proud of the film and how it turned out to be.

Serena Williams appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show for the first time this year since 2016. The American was asked numerous with one of the questions being about King Richard.

She admits that making the movie took a lot of effort and she was proud of everyone who made sure the movie could happen. She also says that the movie gives an insight into the life of players who go through a lot to win a trophy and achieve something significant. She thanks her parents for the dedication and everything they put in to make sure she is where she is.

“It takes a lot of work, and that is what I really loved about the movie. It was the fact that you know so much about us just as players and these holding up championships and holding up trophies. But there is so much more that goes into that. It’s every day. It’s hard work, it’s so much dedication from my parents, both my mom and my dad,”  said the 23-time Grand Slam winner.

She also talks about the making of the film. She says that it took a long time to make the film due to it being shut down due to Covid. Another thing she mentions is the fact that the whole movie put together as a whole was great and feels the movie will live on for a long time to come.

“The film was amazing; it was so cool to see the whole process come together. Took a really long time, and it got shut down for covid. But I was so proud of everyone and how everything came together, and yeah, it was a wonderful moment. I think the film will live on for a really long time.”

We hope that the movie serves as an inspiration for the youngsters to pick up their rackets and play tennis. Fans are also eager to see the former world no. 1 come back on the court and show off her magnificent skills, especially when the American hints at the fact that she is playing soon.
