The Berrettini Brothers- Matteo Berrettini and Jacopo Berrettini have attracted media attention after both the players reached the Round of 16 of the Mexican Open 2023. While Matteo Berrettini got a walkover against Alex Molcan in the first round, Jacopo who is currently ranked No.641 in the world, had to come through Qualifiers.
The current World No.24 has to win against Elias Ymer to advance in the next round at Acapulco, Mexico. However, the path for his younger brother is more challenging. He has to win against Alex de Minaur to be able to advance into the next round.
Meanwhile, tennis fans are excited for a possible clash of the brothers in the semi-final round of this ATP tournament. Eminent sports journalist Jose Morgado also discussed this possibility in his latest social media post. He also shared an excerpt from an interview with Jacopo Berrettini.
Jacopo. ""Without him [none of this] would be possible. Not just for the [qualifying] wild card but for everything. He is my inspiration, he's really a true champion and really a very good person. For me he's the most important person in my life."

Brothers who played tennis together and against each other
Matteo Berrettini and Jacopo Berrettini are not the only two siblings in the history of tennis to play against or with each other. The sports history is filled with many such big names. John McEnroe and Patrick McEnroe are both legends of the sport. John McEnroe won seven Grand Slam singles titles in his career. However, as a doubles pair, they were a force to reckon with.
Mischa Zverev and Alexander Zverev are also notable singles players in their own right. They played against each other in the second-round of the 2018 CITI Open in Washington DC. Alexander Zverev won that match 6-3, 7-5.
Andy Murray and Jamie Murray are the two most prolific tennis players in Great Britain. While Andy Murray rose to World No.1 ranking in singles, Jamie Murray climbed to top spot on the leaderboard in doubles. The Bryan Brothers are one of the greatest doubles pairs in the history of the sport. Mike Bryan and Bob Bryan together won 18 Grand Slam doubles titles and two Olympic medals.
