A self-assured Jannik Sinner introduced himself at a press conference on the eve of the Wimbledon competition. The tennis professional wants to try and repeat his success after reaching the quarterfinals last year, where he defeated none other than World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the round of 16 and narrowly lost a two-set lead to Djokovic. The South Tyrolean knows that he can succeed on grass as well.
He said, “We young players need to understand how to reach the age of 36 or 37 and have the physical form of Nole. It’s very interesting to see how well he is doing. Winning so many Slams and other important tournaments is incredible. You have to be physically ready because he can play for five hours a day. I’m glad he’s here so that I can learn something more from him.”
Djokovic is unquestionably the favorite, and the physical insecurities of Berrettini and Kyrgios only serve to reinforce this position. The Italian acknowledged that Nole is the favorite in terms of knowledge and assurance. There are only a select few players who can defeat him: those who serve exceptionally well but must do so for five sets, or those who have some degree of game variation, like Alcaraz.
Sinner, however, is prepared to attempt to surprise the champion. Continuing his train of thought, he further added, “I can’t deny it; I believe I showed last year that I am ready. I have shown that if I find my game, I can perform very well on grass. I don’t think there are many players capable of beating him, but I include myself among them.”

Jannik Sinner even offered his perspective on the issue of Andy Murray‘s omission from the Wimbledon billboard. While he finds it difficult to communicate his views, he is confident in his ability to compete with the best players in the world.
Sinner further addresses the ongoing discussion regarding his competition with Alcaraz and admits that the young gun has the upper hand because of his bigger number of victories. Sinner stresses the value of honoring Alcaraz’s achievements.
The Italian tennis professional is a young player forging his own way and is excited to see where his adventure will take him. With that being said, it will be pretty interesting to see whether he can topple the experience and in-game composure of tennis great Novak Djokovic during the Wimbledon 2023.
