Olympic gold medalist and retired skier Lindsey Vonn is a mutual friend of Jannik Sinner and Roger Federer and she recently opined that the two players have a number of similarities. Sinner used to be a competitive skier when he was young and later decided to pursue a career in tennis.
Federer too, has always admired the sport and he started skiing again after retiring from tennis. That is how Lindsey Vonn knows both of them.

The American skiing star said that Jannik Sinner is extremely humble and kind and has a different perspective on tennis, which probably came from his prior experience as a competitive skier. She said that they have talked about this a couple of times. Sinner apparently heads into a match with the perspective that if he misses a point, nothing will happen, unlike in skiing, where taking the wrong turn can lead to a bad crash or injury.
If he's under pressure, and he's got to serve, he's got match point or something, the perspective is that if he misses the point, nothing is going to happen. It's not like in skiing, where if you don't take the turn right, you crash, and you could potentially hurt yourself very badly.Lindsey Vonn told ATPTour.com
Vonn thinks that his fearlessness is what probably sets him apart from the others in every situation. The American also said that she had expected Sinner to win his first Grand Slam a lot earlier but it’s better late than never.
He's just a great athlete, very smart and I'm not surprised that he won Australia. I thought he would win before he did, but he's someone that's going to be around for a long time. And he really reminds me of Roger, to be honest.
Lindsey Vonn says that Jannik Sinner is an effortless skier
Jannik Sinner once hosted Lindsey Vonn in his hometown and they skied together. She said that Sinner’s tall and lean physique usually makes it difficult to ski but he makes it feel effortless and is an elegant skier.

He's really tall, so the taller you are, I think the more difficult it is to ski. But I think it's similar to his tennis. He's very fluid and elegant and he's able to carve and make really nice turns and it seems really effortless for him.
She also said that the 22-year-old Italian is very mature for his age and his confidence level is only growing with time. Thus, Lindsey Vonn predicted that he definitely has a bright future ahead.
