Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner has won the Fans’ Favorite Award at the 2023 ATP Awards and, with that, brought an end to his sensational career-best season. The 2023 season has literally been the best year in Sinner’s career so far and he is just 22 years old. He is hands-down one of the best youngsters in the sport right now, alongside Carlos Alcaraz, and has a long way to go. 

The ATP Fans’ Favorite Award is popularly known as Roger Federer’s award because the Swiss international absolutely dominated the competition when it came to this award. He won the award 19 times consecutively, from 2003 to 2021, which shows exactly how famous he was in the tennis world.

As the Swiss great has now retired, Jannik Sinner will win it in 2023. Last year, it was won by Rafael Nadal

Sinner has a 64-15 tour-level record this year. He ended the season with a year-end ranking of World No. 4, which is the highest ever by any Italian. This is the first time that an Italian player has ended a season as a Top 5 player in the ATP rankings. The youngster will also rise above from here and he will surely be breaking a number of new records. 

This is not the first ATP award that he has won. Back in 2019, the Italian won the Newcomer of the Year award. This year, he has been nominated for two more awards, namely the Most Improved Player of the Year and the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Awards. His coaches, Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi, are also in contention to win the Coach of the Year award.

After an average first half in the 2023 season, Jannik Sinner made a phenomenal comeback in late 2023, starting from the China Open. He won the China Open and the Vienna Open in quick succession, beating Daniil Medvedev in the finals of both tournaments. These two titles added to the confidence of the youngster, with the help of which he performed phenomenally in the 2023 ATP Finals

He defeated Novak Djokovic for the first time ever in the group stage of the ATP Finals. Although he lost to the Serbs when they met again in the final, the Italian had established that he was a force to be reckoned with.

The Australian Open, which starts in about a month’s time, is likely to be the first tournament of the year for Sinner. He will definitely be one of the favorites in the tournament, after Djokovic.
